Non-Vehicular & Multi-Modal Transportation

Bellingham has many initiatives in place seeking to reduce our dependency on autos and promote other modes of transportation and we have been recognized as a leaders in these efforts. The biggest threat that I see to our progress in this area is the high cost of housing in Bellingham. The reality is that many people are moving outside of Bellingham to find housing that is affordable and having farther commutes when working in Bellingham. I think the most immediate and positive impact we can have on reducing vehicle trips is to ensure we have a diversity of housing options in Bellingham that meets the needs and affordability of people. My Housing Innovation Project will do just this.
